The shrinking ice caps have been one of the main cited reasons governments have pushed for higher taxes, more regulations and stiffer legislation on carbon emissions.
Now some rather inconvenient data is rolling in: Polar ice caps have rebounded this year, leaving the arctic with more ice than at any time in the past 30 years.
Thanks to a rapid rebound in recent months, global sea ice levels now equal those seen 29 years ago, when the year 1979 also drew to a close.
Ice levels had been tracking lower throughout much of 2008, but rapidly recovered in the last quarter. In fact, the rate of increase from September onward is the fastest rate of change on record, either upwards or downwards.
Apparently all it takes to make a whole lot of ice is a few months of record cold temperatures. Who would have thunk?
Does this mean that the polar bears are safe, and we don't need to be taxed any more?

Well of course we all knew that the famed ice would return...Now watch the "green people" decry that the new ice is not of the same quality as the old ice... Maybe its from Walmart.
Amazing that one winter corrected 30 years of melting. And i was looking forward to global warming as i really really want to plant a palm tree in my front yard.
